Candy canes. Christmas cookies. Cookies. And more cookies. Egg Nog. All that and more are typical at Christmas time. And that is not including the pecan pies and red wine. The truth is, Christmas is a time for festivities and food, in no particular order. Of course, the other 'F' falls off the list of priorities as a result. That 'F' is Fitness. And with "fitness" forgotten we on average consume more calories and downgrade our fitness and health. So, how do we get back our fitness and health for the new year?

The most common recommendation is to return to normal. Go back to your normal dietary habits as soon as possible. It may take a few days to return your body and its energy demands vs supply and metabolism to normalcy but you will get there. I agree with this simple suggestion, but what if you are like most people and have bad dietary habits or follow a low-quality, poor nutrition plan.
